School budgets

The School Budgets Letter February 2023 will set out the maintained schools' budget settlement for the financial year 2023-24. This includes early estimates of funding being made available by the Government through the Pupil Premium Grant and the new Mainstream Schools Additional Grant (MSAG).

The DfE will continue to paying all mainstream school’s rates bills direct, including academies, but Nursery Schools are out of scope and should still pay their own rates bill. Mainstream Schools will receive a copy of the rates bill, but please DO NOT pay their rates bill, it will be for information ONLY.

Please download the documents below to see the full breakdown of Maintained Schools Indicative Budget Shares for 2023-24.

This information will assist in preparing for your budget setting process or interview with CYP Finance Business Partner staff (where you subscribe to this service), and for the final production of your school's spending plan for the financial year 2023-24.

The Significant Growth and Falling Rolls Funding Policies will be finalised at the later date of June this year.  This will set out the process and criteria for applying for any additional funding you may be eligible for relating to both Basic Need Growth and Falling Rolls.

Policies will be published at a later date, along with the list of basic need growth for 2023-24. Please contact us for further information or to apply for additional growth or falling rolls funding.
