Council Tax exemptions

To qualify for a discount the carer should be:

• providing care or support on behalf of the local authority, the Crown or a charity or be employed by the person they care for and have been introduced by one of these; and
• live at the home where they provide the care, or at one provided by the local authority, the Crown, the charity or the person being cared for; and
• provide care for at least 24 hours each week; and
• earn a maximum of £44 each week

The applicant should have fully explored all other eligible discounts/reliefs prior to an application being made.

We consider all applications made by an individual on a case-by-case basis and decisions are made on the merits of each case.
