Transport Vision

Sheffield’s Transport Vision is the city’s plan to develop the transport network for everyone in Sheffield. It sets out our transport priorities and delivery plans to 2035 and beyond.

The transport network developed aims to be:

• safe
• reliable
• low carbon
• fit for the rest of this century

Sheffield's Transport Vision builds on the Council’s existing plans and policies. These are to tackle the climate emergency, deliver growth, and enable reliable clean journeys.

The plan aims to deliver streets which are safe and inclusive. This will make it easy to walk, wheel and cycle. It will support the South Yorkshire Mayor in delivering a reliable and accessible public transport network.

Walking, Wheeling and Cycling Investment Plan

The Walking, Wheeling and Cycling Investment Plan is a delivery plan arising from the Transport Vision. It sets out our 20 year vision, underpinned by a short to medium-term investment programme. The plan brings together the evidence, priorities and proposals that will guide our journey towards a more connected, active and inclusive city.

The plan sets out our intentions for investment in:

• improvements to the layout of streets to make walking, wheeling and cycling trips easier and more attractive such as new pedestrian crossings, better pavements and cycling routes
• ways of helping and encouraging people to make more journeys by walking, wheeling and cycling, such as marketing campaigns and cycle training

This investment will combine targeted interventions in specific areas with city-wide initiatives.
