You can report any dead animals you find on the road to us. This includes wild animals like badgers and foxes, as well as domestic pets such as cats and dogs.
Collecting dead pets
We will make every effort to inform the owners if their pet is killed on the road and check if they wish to arrange to collect them. We will scan for or ID chips and check collars for contact details.
Dead animals with ID chips or contact details are kept in refrigerated stores for up to 4 weeks. Any animals that are not micro-chipped will be stored for up to 5 days.
Animals not collected by their owners are disposed of by a local pet crematorium.
