Inclusion strategy

Sheffield City Council, NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group and Sheffield’s Parent Carer Forum worked together to co-produce a citywide strategy that sets out our commitments to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

It explains how we, as a city, will meet the needs of our children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

It sets out Sheffield’s plans to address local challenges by focusing on 5 commitments covering the areas of assessment, provision, transition, communication and the workforce.

The strategy will be regularly reviewed and will last from 2020 to 2025.

Developing this strategy involved:

  • focus groups with young people
  • co-production sessions
  • public consultation
  • the Parent Carer Forum’s State of Sheffield survey (over 700 responses)
