Community Justice Panel
Our Community Justice Panels bring victims and wrongdoers together to resolve conflict and harm caused by anti-social behaviour and crime. They encourage wrongdoers to apologise and make amends to their victim and community. Problems they deal with include:
- neighbour disputes
- criminal damage
- thefts
- assaults
The process
- everyone involved agrees to take part in the Community Justice Panel
- the wrongdoer must admit that they have caused harm
- each party can bring a supporter with them
- everyone is given a chance to speak and agrees how to resolve the problem
- the victim and wrongdoer sign a Community Justice Agreement (CJPA)
Volunteer
If you would like to become a volunteer facilitator, please get in touch. You will have an informal interview with the Community Justice Panel coordinators. Successful candidates will be offered a place on a three-day training course.
