Our newspaper collection is available to view on microfilm in Sheffield Central Library. In addition, you can search the following Sheffield newspapers via the British Newspaper Archive website for free at any Sheffield City Council Library and at the City Archives:

  • Sheffield Independent, 1819 to 1938
  • Sheffield Daily Telegraph, 1855 to 1950
  • Sheffield Evening Telegraph, 1897 to 1939
  • Sheffield Weekly Telegraph, 1884 to 1950
  • Sheffield iris, 1835 to 1843
  • Sheffield Public Advertiser, 1760 to 1793
  • Sheffield Register, 1787 to 1794
  • Star (Green ‘Un), 1909 to 1958
  • South Yorkshire Times and Mexborough and Swinton Times, 1877 to 1959
