Sheffield Children's University

Sheffield Children’s University (CU) encourages children and young people to develop essential life skills by taking part in learning activities in their own time.

These skills are:

  • Listening - being able to listen and understand information
  • Speaking - being able to share information or ideas with others
  • Problem Solving - being able to find a solution to a challenge or situation
  • Creativity - using your imagination to create new ideas or objects
  • Staying Positive - using tactics to overcome setbacks and to achieve goals
  • Aiming High - setting clear, high targets and having a way to achieve them
  • Leadership - supporting, encouraging and motivating others to achieve a goal
  • Team work - work cooperatively with others

Sheffield CU recognises, tracks and rewards the children and young people for taking part in CU activities. Children and young people who attend schools in Sheffield can:

  • earn CU credits at subscribed schools or at Learning Destinations across the city
  • achieve awards, certificates and badges 
  • attend special award ceremonies in schools and prestigious Sheffield venues

Join Sheffield Children's University

  • ask in your child’s school if they are subscribed to Sheffield Children’s University 
  • buy a Passport to Learning for £4.50 (including postage)
  • you do not have to register the Passport to Learning
  • children can only earn CU credits with the Passport to Learning at approved Learning Destinations
  • Find Learning Destinations at Children's University

Membership for home-educated children

Parents of home educated children who live within the Sheffield boundary must:

  • buy a Passport to Learning for £4.50 (including postage)
  • complete a membership pack
  • pay an annual fee of £35 (siblings £20)
How the Children's University can benefit your child
