Dangerous dogs

If a dog is attacking other animals, straying or being a nuisance in the street, contact us.

If you think a dog is a danger to people, either because it has attacked someone or you think that it might do, contact South Yorkshire Police. If the matter is serious and there is immediate danger call 999. Otherwise call 101 or report it online at South Yorkshire Police: Animals and Animal Welfare.

Which dogs are dangerous

Under the 1991 Dangerous Dogs Act, Pit Bull Terriers have been identified as a prohibited breed. There are other breeds, but they aren’t currently known to be in the country. There is Government advice available on banned dogs.
