Citizenship ceremonies

We carry out Citizenship Ceremonies for anyone who was granted British Citizenship after 1 January 2004.

Ceremonies are held in the Town Hall (main entrance) on a weekly basis.

A civic dignitary, such as the Lord Mayor, the Lord Lieutenant of the County or the High Sheriff will give a welcoming speech and will present you with a Naturalisation Certificate.

The ceremony ends with photographs and refreshments.

Private Citizenship Ceremony

If you're unable to attend the ceremony on the dates we have available, you can book a private Citizenship Ceremony. The fee for this is:

  • £75 on weekdays
  • £100 on Saturdays
  • children accompanied by an adult are free
