COVID-19 restrictions on weddings

Civil marriages and civil partnerships can take place fully outdoors or under a partially covered structure if this has at least a 50% open area within the grounds of approved premises. The change applies to existing approved premises. Venues will be under no obligation to offer outdoor proceedings.

If you are getting married in Sheffield - whether in the Town Hall or elsewhere - you need to book a registrar to conduct the ceremony.

You can provisionally book a registrar up to 2 years ahead of the ceremony but it's your responsibility to contact the venue to check their availability.


  •   Monday to Friday: £394
  •   Saturday and Sunday: £450
  •   Bank Holiday: £563
Booking fee

There will be a non-refundable booking fee of £60 to secure a date and time (this is additional to any other fees).


Marriage and civil partnership certificates cost £11 at the point of registration. Your certificate will be sent out within 5 working days of receiving your marriage or civil partnership schedule. Copies of certificates can be bought after for £12 each.
