We have commissioned the Sheffield Carers Centre, a local independent charity, to provide dedicated support to adults providing unpaid care to someone else in Sheffield.
They have trained staff who understand the pressures of caring and can help with any aspect of the caring role.
You can get support from:
- a dedicated advice line 0114 272 8362
- an information library
- one-to-one counselling
- help to plan for emergencies and times when the carer is unable to care
- a break from caring service (sometimes called respite)
This can include a break during the day so you can attend an appointment, or a longer break if you need a holiday or an operation.
Carer's Needs Assessments
The Carers Centre is also responsible for assessing how your caring situation is impacting your life, and the measures that could be taken to lessen the effect.
