Residential and nursing care

Care home accommodation and support options are available if you or someone you know is no longer able to remain at home safely.

Search for a care home

Residential homes offer the same care and help that you would get if a relative or friend looked after you. Staff in a care home can help you with:

  • washing and dressing
  • meal times
  • going to the toilet
  • help and support to gain skills that can help you to be independent

Choose a care home

Visit the home with your family or friends. There’s a trial period of up to 4 weeks before you need to make up your mind.

Paying for your care in a home

We'll help you to pay the fees for residential care if we think this is the kind of help you need, and if we think you can’t afford to pay for it yourself.

Comments and complaints

If you have any comments or suggestions about a home please tell the staff, manager or matron at the home.

Many homes have a ‘residents committee’ where you can put forward your ideas.
