Photographic history research guide

Sheffield Archives and Local Studies has a collection of over 100,000 images of the city dating from the earliest days of photography right through to the 21st century digital formats. Over the last 100 years or so there have been a number of different formats (the first being Daguerreotype). This study Guide explains all the different formats using examples from the Sheffield Collections.
