Viewing a property

If your bid is successful, you’ll be invited to view the property before making a final decision. Here's what to expect and what happens next.

What happens at a viewing

You’ll be contacted and given an appointment to meet an officer at the property. At this visit:

  • the home will be empty
  • all essential repairs will have been completed
  • you’ll need to bring the required identification documents for you and all the people moving with you – this will be explained to you when the viewing appointment is made

Furniture and household items

Most Sheffield City Council and Housing Association properties are let without any furniture or household items. We have provided a list of useful items and charities that can support you with secondhand furniture on Furniture and household items.

As well, in some circumstances, we can offer a furniture package at a weekly cost, which is added to your rent payments.
