Adult Social Care helps people who are older or disabled. It also supports those living with long-term physical or mental health conditions. Our aim is to help you stay independent and well, in a way that suits your needs. We offer:
- information and advice to help you stay independent
- equipment or technology to make daily life easier
- help connecting with local support and community groups
- personal care in your home or in a residential or nursing home
- support for unpaid carers
- safeguarding support if someone is being harmed or neglected
How we can help
When you contact us, we’ll take the time to understand your needs and what matters to you. Our first step is usually to offer early help, this might include:
- advice and information
- equipment like grab rails or walking aids
- technology enabled care
- support from a local group or service
- often, small changes can make a big difference to help you live independently.

If you need care services
If you need more than advice or local support, we may be able to arrange formal care services. These could include:
- short-term support to help you recover or regain confidence
- longer-term care with personal tasks like washing, dressing or preparing meals
- 24-hour care in a residential or nursing home, if your needs can’t be met at home
To access care services, we’ll need to understand your situation and whether you meet national eligibility rules.
