Sheffield residents who face barriers to employment, including health issues, disabilities, or social disadvantages are set to benefit from new funding.

Sheffield City Council has been selected to deliver a new programme, which is part of the UK Government’s “Get Britain Working” initiative.
The city has been allocated £7.28 million by the Department for Work and Pensions to deliver the Connect to Work programme.

The programme will run for the next five years and aims to support 1,644 residents with at least 822 expected to move into or sustain employment.

Earlier today (Monday 7 July 2025) at a Economic Development, Skills and Culture Committee meeting, elected members approved receipt of the funding and approved the delivery plan for the next five years.
