Advice line for professionals

If you're a professional with a concern about someone you're supporting, you can speak to a safeguarding worker or make a formal referral.

If you're a professional and you're concerned about an adult who may be experiencing abuse or neglect, we’re here to help.

Speak to a safeguarding professional

You can talk through your concern with someone from Sheffield’s Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).

If you're unsure whether someone is at risk, or if a safeguarding referral is needed, contact the MASH advice line.

How to request a call back

To request a call back:

  • email adultmash@sheffield.gov.uk
  • use the subject line: SAFEGUARDING ADVICE NEEDED
  • include the adult’s name, date of birth and address
  • include your own name, job title and contact number

We’ll check if the person is already known to us, then a MASH worker will call you back. You'll get an email confirming when to expect a response.

If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. For non-emergencies, contact the police on 101.
