The refurbishment of the Woodbourn Road football site in Darnall has started as part of a project led by the Premier League, The Football Association and Government’s Football Foundation in partnership with Sheffield City Council.
This week saw the launch of a new book about the ‘Life and Times’ of Sir Nathaniel Creswick, one of Sheffield FC founders, the oldest football club in the world still playing here in Sheffield since 1857.
Attercliffe is as old as Sheffield itself, dating back to the 12th century, and is steeped in history including playing a pivotal role in the industrial revolution where its steel works dominated the world market for centuries.
