Sheffield-based organisation Food Works have taken over operation of the Glasshouses.
They are committed to empowering local communities to grow their own food and produce, and upcycling surplus food from across the city.
All of the natural produce grown goes back to the local community through Food Works network of cafe's, food markets and ready meals.
They also distribute seedlings to local community groups and schools so they can grow their own healthy, sustainable produce.
Food Works are currently supporting 34 Sheffield schools to grow food themselves, as well as supplying plants for a national organisation who are supporting a further 60 schools.
They are also working with the University of Sheffield to help them research the possibilities of growing different crops for a new climate, or using new techniques. This research is taking place at the newly transformed Glasshouses.
In the future, Food Works are planning on setting up workshops and skills sessions to give everyone in the city an opportunity to learn about growing food.
