Education and Learning

As part of a wide range of educational provision in the city we maintain:

  • 137 primary schools offering education for children aged 5 to 11 years old
  • 25 secondary schools providing comprehensive education to 11 to 16 year olds. 7 of these secondary schools have sixth-forms, offering courses to young people to age 19. There are also 2 academies run by the United Learning Trust.
  • The Sheffield College provides vocational courses, A levels, apprenticeships, foundation learning, higher education (foundation degrees), GCSEs and a variety of courses for adults and business.
  • 9 nurseries and young children’s centres
  • 13 Special schools
