Regeneration Projects and Environmental Planning Team

Sheffield’s Planning Service includes an in-house Team of Landscape Architects with experience in a wide field of Landscape Design including:

City Centre

Design Team Leadership of many projects in Sheffield’s City Centre including the Peace Gardens, Sheaf Square, Howard Street, Barkers Pool, Devonshire Green, Tudor Square and the Moor (see downloadable Team Brochure).

Parks, Open Spaces and Children’s Play

Experience in the planning, detailed design and implementation of parks and open spaces including children’s play areas, sports facilities, wildlife gardens, ornamental planting and woodland planting (see downloadable Team Brochure).

Countryside projects

Recent projects include the award winning Shirebrook Valley and Beighton IDP programmes for involvement of volunteers including local community groups and schools.

Projects have included the creation of many hectares of woodland, meadows and wetlands achieving major improvements to biodiversity in areas of environmental degradation.

Sports facilities

Experience in the design of sports facilities including the provision of multi use games areas, sports field construction and land drainage schemes.

Landscape, Environmental Assessments and Site Master-planning

Landscape Character Assessments – eg for Sheffield’s urban fringe as part of Sheffield’s Development Framework.

Site Master-planning achieving integration of open space and built development to create successful and attractive neighbourhoods or settings for economic regeneration. 

The Team has extensive experience of landscape character assessments and tree surveys associated with the placing of Tree Preservation Orders.

Housing landscapes

The Team has experience in the detailed design of landscapes associated with housing developments including the major regeneration/renewal of Sheffield’s Manor Estate.

Sustainable Urban Drainage

The team has achieved national recognition for its sustainable urban drainage scheme at Manor Fields.

Public art

The team has achieved national recognition for the way it has integrated public art in its projects including numerous award winning projects in Sheffield City Centre.
