Access to Research Journals

We’ve signed up to a pilot project for a year that allows free access to over 8,400 research journals.  You can access these through our PN computers in each local library and the Central Library then by going to their website at Access to Research.

Subjects range from Art & Architecture, Medical and Science, Business, Engineering, History, Language, Politics and many others and give over 1.5 million articles.

These are mainly specialised journals and include:

Nature, The Lancet, Journal of Popular Film & Television, Economic Outlook, Journal of Environmental Management, Screen, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Psychology of Sport & Exercise etc.


Family History


Available to use free of charge in the Archives and Local Studies Library and all local libraries.

Ancestry gives access to a huge number of family history and other records and images such as census returns and indexes to births, deaths and marriages.



Sheffield Business & IP Centre has information on the wide variety of online databases you can use which includes Cobra, Kompass and Mint.
