We need foster carers for Sheffield children who, for whatever reason, need someone else to look after them. We need foster carers for all ages, from 0-18, who can offer anything from one overnight on a regular basis, to having a child come live with them on a permanent basis.
We need foster carers for:
- children with disabilities
- brothers and sisters
- young parents and babies
If you would like to find out more about who needs fostering please contact our fostering team.
Types of fostering care
Foster care doesn’t necessarily mean 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Some children will need to be looked after for a day or two. Others will need care every day until they reach adulthood.
Finding the right type of fostering for your household is important and your assessing social worker will discuss this with you carefully.
The different types are:
- emergency fostering
- short and medium term fostering
- long term fostering
- holiday support care
- remand care
- short breaks
- police and criminal evidence (PACE) care
- family and friend, or kinship care
For more information on the different types of fostering options please contact us or see GOV.UK.
