You can apply for an allotment in Sheffield using the online form. Due to the increasing popularity of allotment gardening, many sites in Sheffield have waiting lists, however some have vacancies.

We also have a number of accessible plots with raised beds available at some sites and we can create accessible plots when needed.

Once you have found the allotment you wish to apply for you can use the online application form to submit your application.

Charges & payments

The charge for an allotment will depend on the size of the plot and whether the allotment site has a water supply.

Plot Size: up to 100m²

  • rent: £26
  • water: £14
  • total: £40

Plot Size: up to 200m²

  • rent: £52
  • water: £28
  • total: £80

Plot Size: up to 300m²

  • rent: £72
  • water: £40
  • total: £112

Plot Size: 301m² or above

  • rent: £112
  • water: £48
  • total: £160

If your site does not have a water mains supply you will only be charged the amount in the 'Rent' column.

Tenants receive an invoice each April for the 12 month period 1 April to 31 March.

New tenants starting part way through the year pay a pro rata amount.

It is important to follow the payment instructions on the back of the invoice carefully otherwise there may be a delay in allocating the payment to your invoice.

We no longer accept payment in cash or by cheque but you can pay by these methods at the Post Office.


A 75% concession is available for people on a low income or with disabilities, categorised by:

  • Universal Credit
  • Income Support
  • Housing Benefit
  • Council Tax Benefit (Council Tax Support)
  • Job Seeker's Allowance
  • Working Tax Credit with an NHS tax credit exemption certificate
  • Employment Support Allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance (PIP)
  • disabled person's bus pass
  • Blue Badge
  • Severe Disablement Allowance/PIP/Attendance Allowance
  • Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
  • War Disablement Pension
  • full time students with full student loan entitlement

A 25% concession can be claimed by all tenants aged 60+.
