Do you struggle to get into your local library because of health or access problems? Do you know someone that would enjoy a regular home visit? Our friendly staff deliver books, talking books, DVDs and jigsaw puzzles directly to your home.
Who is the home library service for?
Any Sheffield resident:
- who is unable to get to their local library and has no-one to help them do so
- who has no-one to visit the library for them
- who may be able to get to the library but cannot carry the books they've chosen
We may also be able to offer the service on a temporary basis, for example whilst you are recovering from an operation.

A library to your door
We will talk to you about your reading interests and what you enjoy. Based on this, each month we will bring you a selection of carefully-chosen materials. These may include:
- hardback
- paperback
- large print
- books on CD
- film on DVD
- music on CD
- jigsaw puzzles
If you have a particular request from another library, you can ask the staff when they visit.
A library that’s always open
If you can’t wait until the next visit, you can use the eLibrary. This online service is open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. You can read eBooks eMagazines or listen to eAudiobooks.
