The new Vulnerable Adolescent Team is part of the Sheffield Edge of Care offer to children and families. This is an exciting opportunity for qualified and registered children’s senior social workers to either transfer from their existing senior roles or progress their professional development into a senior social worker position.  We are seeking confident, motivated and inspirational social workers with a proven track record of creating change and making a difference to young people’s lives.

The aim of this new team is to provide a service to young people who are identified as being vulnerable due to neglect and/or abuse and whose behaviour is a concern.  These young people and their families are often hard to reach so the successful applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to engage with resistant families.  We aim to help the parents to develop strategies to care for their children whilst managing challenging behaviours and to build confidence and resilience in the young people.  We use Signs of Safety as a working model therefore we are looking for positive strengths focused workers who are organised and can demonstrate strong social work values.

We want our practice to avoid practice that blames and stigmatises adolescents, who recognises and can overcome the barriers that adolescents face in society.

We are looking for creativity and innovation in working with hard- to - reach families.

The team is based at Moorfoot Building, The Moor, Sheffield city centre.

We are committed to fairness and social justice and welcome applications from everyone. We value our diverse workforce and aim to work together to make the most of our differences. Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
