Within the Inclusion and Attendance Team we are looking to recruit experienced professionals into the Senior Learning Mentor role. We have an experienced group of Senior Learning Mentors within the Local Authority and are looking to recruit a new professional who is innovative, enthusiastic and can demonstrate commitment to the role.
This role is designed to enhance and support professional practice around Inclusion and Attendance through Schools, Partner Agencies and Services. Often operating as a keyworker, the Senior Learning Mentors work to support vulnerable children and families to engage with their education. They do so by bringing together a package of support that puts the child at the centre of the process, utilising information gathered from assessments and facilitating access to Early Help / statutory services bringing all the relevant professionals together. The role also involves delivery of professional development practices and advising and supporting schools on current and best practice with particular emphasis on seeing children supported to make successful educational transitions.
We require confident, driven, skilled and passionate professionals who can build strong proactive working relationships across all areas of the city. Knowledge of current assessment frameworks, inclusive practices and experience of working with children with barriers to their learning would really support this role.
We are committed to fairness and social justice and welcome applications from everyone. We value our diverse workforce and aim to work together to make the most of our differences. Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
