Business Support is currently looking to recruit to a number of roles across areas of the Peoples Services Portfolio.  The Portfolio Business Support Service has a wide range of services working in different locations across the city.

Business Support provides a range of essential services to busy teams of practitioner and partners who all work to improve the outcomes and achievement of Children, Young People and Families and vulnerable adults.

Business Support colleagues work to generic job descriptions and are required to be flexible in terms of area of work and location.

All posts in the Business Support Service require a high level of ICT skills, a willingness to constantly review and improve our ways of working, be able to operate with a high level of numerical and verbal accuracy and to have excellent customer focus and organisational skills.   Both Children and Adults services handle private and confidential information so discretion and confidentiality is essential.

The Business Support Service is a great place to work whether you wish to use your experience to lead into other areas of work with the Council such as HR, finance, commercial services or a wide range of practitioner roles; or you wish to build a career in Business Support.  Business Support is both a great career and is a route into working in public services and for the city.

Senior Business Support Officers are the first line of supervision in the service and provide guidance and expertise to Business Support Officers whilst also being responsible for complex administration covering areas such as finance, specialist systems activity, supporting the exchange and good governance of sensitive information and of course usual Business Support activity of any busy team.  Senior Business Support Officers may not always supervise colleagues but should expect to be asked to do this if required.  You will also have excellent organisation and communication skills as well as the ability to take clear and accurate complex minutes.

We particularly welcome applications from men, disabled candidates and black and minority ethnic candidates as they are under-represented in this service.

We value our diverse workforce and aim to work together to make the most of our differences. We welcome applications from everyone.  Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.
