Sheffield City Council's parking team is one of the largest local authority operators in England. The service has a turnover of £8 million per year and manages over 11,000 bays across the city. 15,000 parking permits are processed each year. Almost 100,000 parking and Bus Lane Penalty Charge Notices were issued last year. The service is going through ongoing modernisation and change.
We are seeking to recruit staff to work in our Notice Processing team. The role will involve processing parking and bus lane Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) which have been issued by the enforcement team. Key areas of work include responding to written appeals made by motorists against PCNs (in line with national regulations and local policy) and dealing with telephone calls about cases. The team will work in a Hub alongside colleagues from other service areas such as Planning, Building Control, Licensing and Environmental Regulation and Pest Control.
We are looking for people with excellent customer service and communication skills. You would need to be able to use a computer system to process cases as well as use other applications such as Word and Excel. The role will require working as part of a team and also being able to organise your own work. There will be a requirement to cover some rota duties (as detailed in the attached job description). Experience of working in a parking related job is not essential in applying for the post as long as relevant transferable skills and experiences are demonstrated and applicants are willing to learn.
We are committed to fairness and social justice and welcome applications from everyone. We value our diverse workforce and aim to work together to make the most of our differences. Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.
