A Foster Carer provides care for children in your own home when they cannot live with their birth family.  This can be short term whilst other long term plans are made for the child (such as returning home or move to adoption).  Or it can be long term when a child lives with you until they can live independently.  We also need foster carers to provide short break care this may be supporting a child with additional needs so their family can have a break or holiday care for children whose usual foster carers are away.

The role:

  •  Offer a warm and caring home 
  •  Provide security, stability and safety to young people that have had a difficult experience
  •  Have the ability to support young people, nurture them, communicate with them, advocate on their behalf and include them as part of your family
  •  Work as part of a team, develop your skills and qualities through training and learning and have the resilience to stay strong in times of difficulty

You must:

  •  Be at least 21 years-old
  •  Have at least one spare bedroom
  •  Be a full-time resident in the UK or have leave to remain
  •  Be able to give the time to care for a child or young person
