Register and bid for a council home

We allocate Council and partner Housing Association properties for rent in Sheffield via the Property Shop website.

We aim to give you more choice in deciding where you want to live. Properties that are available for rent will be advertised each week.

You will need to login or register to use the site.

Assessment for priority

When we assess you for priority status we will check that:

  • you don't have any outstanding arrears
  • you don't have a history of anti-social behaviour
  • your current home is in a satisfactory condition

Being awarded priority

If we give you a priority status we will explain why it has been given and what sort of property it is for. We may cancel your priority if you have not bid for or refused offers of suitable properties which meet your housing needs.

Under Occupation & downsizing

If you have a spare bedroom or want to move to a property with fewer bedrooms, you could apply for an Under Occupation priority. If you are awarded a priority, you must bid for available properties that you are eligible for. Adverts will say if preference will be given to people with a priority or waiting time.

Older People’s Independent Living (OPIL)

We have made an amendment to the Allocations Policy to include OPIL with Care schemes and how we will allocate these properties. Please read our Allocations Policy for further details.
