We launched The Big City Conversation across Sheffield in October to find out about the issues that affect you, your communities and your city. We've had responses from over 3,800 people from all over the city - so thank you so much for getting involved!
We wanted to hear from as many people as possible - all ages and backgrounds, from every part of Sheffield. Over 3,800 of you got involved, and it’s been fantastic looking at all the feedback you've given us.
Sheffielders from almost every part of the city have told us that they love their parks and open spaces but want to see improvements to the levels of congestion, crime and public transport. People also said that they want to get more involved in local issues – particularly online and through local meetings and we’ve got work to do to help Sheffielders feel more informed about local public services.
Over the last couple of months we've held events all over Sheffield, including in the Moor Market, the Town Hall, Fargate, the Market Place at Crystal Peaks, Asda stores in Handsworth and Parsons Cross, the Hillsborough Exchange, Sainsbury's on Archer Road, the Woodhouse Forum, Fox Valley and St James Retail Parks. At these events, our Councillors, Cabinet Members and employees spoke to hundreds of people and got some great feedback on all things Sheffield. We also put feedback boxes out around the city so you could post anything you wanted to tell us in one of those if you couldn't get to an event.
The next steps...
Now that the online survey has closed and the feedback boxes are being collected up, we will start to look at and analyse all the information you've taken the time to give us and we’ll publish all the results here as soon as we can. We’ll look at what the key issues are for Sheffielders across the city and how you want to get involved in the local issues that matter to you.
The things you’ve told us will be part of the City Council’s work over the coming year – whether it’s fixing the problems that you’ve raised or finding new ways for you to have a say in the things that matter in your neighbourhood and the city. We’re also going to have more Big City Conversations to get into some of the issues that you’ve raised in more detail – look out for more information about this soon!
There is also a 'Stronger Community Leadership in Sheffield' event taking place. This event will consider the question 'How do we strengthen the role of Communities & Neighbourhoods in local decision making?'
