Free learning and play for 3 and 4 year olds

Give your child the best start in life with a free early learning and play place.

All 3 and 4 year olds can get 570 hours of free early education or childcare per year. This is usually taken as 15 hours a week during term time (from the beginning of the term after their third birthday) for 38 weeks of the year.

Your child will learn lots of new skills. They’ll read and write, play and explore, learn numbers and other activities. They’ll also make lots of new friends. You’ll also have some time to yourself to work, train or just enjoy free time.

Places are available at nurseries, schools, children’s centres, play groups or registered childminders.
