As of September 2020, Sheffield is an area of concern and is on the Government watch list.

We’re managing local outbreaks by:

  • monitoring the spread of coronavirus using national and local data
  • helping workplaces and high-risk settings to develop specific outbreak management plans
  • working with Public Health England and other public agencies to put targeted control measures in place
  • training the wider council and third sector workforce to help manage outbreaks, prevent infections and trace contacts
  • raising awareness of targeted local interventions or restrictions that may be introduced to manage outbreaks

The Sheffield Local Outbreak Control Plan puts in place measures to contain any Covid-19 outbreak in the city. It is overseen by the Covid-19 Prevention and Management Board.

Test and trace

We track local outbreaks by testing and tracing coronavirus.  It confirms new cases and identifies people who may be at risk. We’re supporting testing and tracing by:

  • raising awareness of coronavirus symptoms
  • encouraging anyone with symptoms to get tested and self-isolate
  • opening mobile, drive-in and walk-in testing sites
  • promoting the importance of the NHS Test and Trace service
  • having local test and trace that works with the national service
