Identify domestic abuse

Domestic abuse is about power and control and can involve physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse, as well as forced marriage, ‘honour-based’ violence, stalking, harassment, isolation and denial.

Domestic abuse happens in all cultures and all social classes. It is mostly women who are abused by male partners or ex-partners, but men can experience domestic abuse and women can be abusers.

Help someone who is being abused

It can be hard to know how to support a friend, colleague, employee or relative who is being abused. Call the Helpline and they can give you advice and support.
