Between 12 November 2018 and 16 November 2018, Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) conducted a joint inspection of the local area of Sheffield to judge the effectiveness of the area in implementing the disability and special educational needs reforms, as set out in the Children and Families Act 2014.
The inspection determined that a written statement of action (an action plan) was required because of significant areas of weakness in the local area’s practice. It determined that Sheffield City Council and Sheffield’s Clinical Commissioning Group were jointly responsible for submitting the written statement of action to Ofsted.
Sheffield’s written statement of action describes how improvements will be made and by when. It has been approved by the inspectors.
Ofsted and the CQC will revisit Sheffield within 18 months to see if enough improvement has been made against the areas of weakness. We expect this to happen around October 2020.
We will continue to provide progress updates at regular intervals.
