Walking for Purpose is a free walking and employability project for residents of Sheffield who are seeking to improve their employment prospects. The project aims to work with participants in their local community to improve their health by accessing a weekly programme of walks. Each walk is then followed by an employability session delivered in partnership with local employability providers.
If any organisations or businesses would like to be involved in the project, please get in touch. The programme includes workshops that range from confidence building and self-belief, to hearing about training and volunteering opportunities, plus much more.
What are the benefits?
Firstly, we want to improve your health and walking can have significant health benefits, which is something we would like to support you with. We also know that each individual is on their own journey and has their own hopes and aspirations.
We aim to be a stepping stone towards helping you achieve those goals. Accessing the project means that you have the opportunity to work closely with employability providers and other partners, and make the most of their skills and knowledge. Walking for Purpose is free to attend and open to anyone who wants to improve their employability skills, get more active, and is over the age of 16.
Walks take place on the following days starting on Tuesday 15 January:
- Tuesdays at SOAR Works, 14 Knutton Road, S5 9NU, 11.30 am – 1.30 pm
- Thursdays at Shiregreen Neighbourhood Centre, Westnall Road, S5 0AA, 11.30 am – 1.30 pm
If you know anyone who would benefit from the project please contact us for more information.
