We want more businesses, community groups and individuals to take pride in their community and not drop litter.
Whether it’s as simple as picking up a piece of litter on your walk to the local shops, raising awareness of litter prevention or organising a litter pick in your local area, your support helps make Sheffield a cleaner environment for everyone to enjoy.
We are happy to support litter picks. We do this by providing equipment and taking away the bags of litter which you have collected.
We can provide:
- litter pickers / grabbers
- plastic bags
- disposable gloves
Sorting collected litter
You do not need to sort or separate litter you have collected. All sorting and separation will be done by our contractors after collection.
Picking up litter
Litter should be bagged and bags tied securely when full. Large items do not need to be bagged. Litter can only be picked from:
- adjoining public land
You do not need to sort or separate litter - this will be done by our collection partners.
No collections should be made directly from households, from the road or in other potentially unsafe areas.
Please do not attempt to pick up any hazardous waste. Hazardous waste may include:
- hypodermic needles
- drugs waste
- broken glass
- waste collected from rivers
This should be reported to us so that we can collect this safely.
Leave collections safely and tidily, grouped together as much as possible. You do not need to sort or separate litter - this will be done by our collection partners.
Bags which have been left should be accessible from the road, you can then request a collection.
