This outlines how we will take forward the regeneration of Sheffield City Centre over the next 10 years. Although it is not a statutory plan, it will guide future regeneration and will therefore have a large impact on the future shape of the city centre.
The plan includes sections on:
Short updates on the main residential quarter action plans are included.
This Plan builds on the previous Plan completed in 2014 and which was subject to extensive consultations. It received strong support at the time but things have changed in the last 4 years, for example there are new plans for the retail quarter or as now called, Heart of the City 2 and the Government’s announcement on HS2 station.
The Council will look carefully at all the comments received before amending and approving the final Plan. It is not possible to respond individually to every comment and suggestion, however it is important that the final Plan reflects the aspirations and ambition of the people of Sheffield, whilst remaining practical.
Once this Plan is approved it will be adopted as a material consideration in determining planning applications, proposals will be included in the draft Local Plan and it will help the Council set priorities, form the basis for funding bids to Government and others, as well as informing investment by the private and third sectors.
