How to get care and support
‘Care and support’ is the help some people need to live as well as possible with any illness, disability or impairment they may have. We also provide support for carers and for families with a disabled young person (as part of them moving to adult care and support).
Care and support can include help with things like:
- washing and dressing yourself
- preparing and eating meals
- getting out and about
- keeping in touch with friends and family
When you contact us, we will talk to you about the problems you are having and the issues you are facing, and how you can get short or long term care and support.
Employing a Personal Assistant
If you employ a Personal Assistant to help you meet your care and support needs, or you are planning to, you’ll find lots of useful information and advice in our PA Handbook. You can choose a recognised Personal Assistant from our Recognised Provider List.
Meals on wheels
You can have your daily meals delivered straight to your door. All suppliers have been checked by us for hygiene and cleanliness, and are monitored regularly, but we can’t endorse any individual company.
The following companies provide a frozen meals service:
- Oakhouse Foods
- Wiltshire Farm Foods
- Women’s Royal Voluntary Service (WRVS)
- Hot Meals
The Park Care Meals company provides a hot meal service delivered to your door - main meals and dessert, and a cold tea meal if required. They will take account of basic dietary requirements, but also any dislikes you have, so if you don't like a certain meat or vegetable a substitute can be used.
