Sheffield Christmas City

Sheffield Christmas Lights Switch-On

The Sheffield Christmas Lights Switch On event takes place across the city centre on Sunday 18 November from 2pm to 6:30pm, with the illuminations getting switched on at 5:30pm from the Peace Gardens stage.  There will be things happening on Fargate, The Moor, Barkers Pool and the Peace Gardens – so plenty for everyone to do.

Our 2018 event aims to bring some nostalgic, festive memories with it.  There will be plenty to help everyone get into the festive spirit including choirs, Santa’s grotto, carolling, panto and street entertainment.  Kids can meet children’s film and TV characters, take part in some Christmas crafts in the Winter Garden, or enjoy the fairground rides. There’s a chance to get up close to all sorts of vehicles at the National Emergency Museum’s display, do some shopping at the Christmas market, and of course you can meet Father Christmas in his Grotto.

Heart Yorkshire presenters will host the stage programme with a mix of Christmas music, entertainment and interviews. Our special headline switch on guests will be announced when the big day draws nearer, so keep an eye out!.
