Christmas in Sheffield

Getting festive in Sheffield this year....

It's that time of year when we normally enjoy all sorts of festive traditions and treats.  This year will be different for many of us in all sorts of ways.  If you're looking for things to help get in the festive mood, here's some ways for you to enjoy Sheffield over the Christmas season....

Parks, Communities and Outdoor Spaces

Twinkly lights and Christmas trees in many of our parks, open spaces, communities and the city centre are bringing festive joy to those who are out and about.  With extra illuminations, trees and decorations going up in communities across Sheffield as well as Weston Park, Endcliffe Park, Hillsborough Park, High Hazels Park, Norfolk Park, Graves Park, the Botanical Gardens and the Woodland Discovery Centre at Ecclesall Woods, there's a lot more outdoor sparkle for you to enjoy this year.  Please remember, if you're visiting outdoor spaces to stick to social distancing guidelines to help keep each other safe.

Twinkling Sheffield

We would love to see your favourite festive lights in Sheffield, so whether they are yours, your neighbours or just some you've seen and enjoyed, please share your photos using #TwinklingSheffield so everyone can enjoy them too!

Sheffield Christmas Trail

Brearley Bear is back in a new adventure, 'Brearley Bear’s Festive Guest' - a free, interactive fun experience for families to enjoy with a special Christmas gift for every child.  You can take part until 24th December,  so come and enjoy a nice, festive outdoor wander in the run up to Christmas.  (Fully complies with government guidelines).

Festive art & letters

We love festive art, so we've created some colouring sheets for you to download and get creative with.  There's one with our favourite Sheffield heroes, Rita and Pete, getting all festive and one with a Sheffield snow globe for anyone fancying more of a challenge!  Share your creative skills using #steelspirit.

We've also received a lovely letter in the Town Hall from someone rather special.  It was addressed to all the boys and girls in Sheffield and is from Father Christmas. If you would like to read it, or share it please do (we've tweaked it a little so you can personalise it if you like).  There's also a festive blank letter template in case you want to write to someone....

Supporting others

The festive season can be a tricky time for many people, we know there are people in Sheffield who may need support or a reminder of our Community Helpline number.  To help reach them, we've created a gift tag for you to download and email or print.  You can add your details and send it to let others know you are around to help them if they need it.  There are all sorts of people who may find it useful including those who are vulnerable, self-isolating or anyone who just needs some support, so please send it to some one if you think they need it.

Shopping with our retailers and supporting them over the next few months is more important than ever this year.  Shops in Sheffield’s centre, local districts and markets offer everything you need for a great festive season, so whether you're shopping in the city centre, spending in your local area, or visiting local retailers online, you'll be able to find everything you need to get your Christmas wrapped up....

Public transport

If you’re travelling by public transport over the festive period, you may need some information on buses and trams:

Please read guidelines before you travel, wear a face covering and have a safe journey.

Whilst we're enjoying the festive season, we need to make sure we all play our part, celebrate safely and always follow the guidelines in place to keep ourselves and others as safe as we can.  If you need any of our information on Coronavirus, changes to our services, the support available and all sorts more, please visit our Coronavirus Hub.  Stay safe Sheffield and we wish you all Merry Christmas.....
