Advice and support for children and families (MAST)

Raising a family is the most important job anyone can do. It has amazing rewards but it can also be very challenging. At some point you may need some extra help.

Your local Multi Agency Support Teams (MASTs) are here to help you and your family. 

Every year, MASTs support 1000s of families by delivering around 60 parenting programmes, whole family support and in our 16 Children's Centres:


New baby

Your local Children’s Centre can help with:

  • Midwife and health visitor drop-ins
  • New parenting skills and courses
  • Baby massage
  • Stay and play and childcare


Family crisis 

We can give you support during difficult times such as separating from your partner or a family stresses by:

  • Finding the right help and services for you
  • Making appointments and attending these with you
  • Helping you find solutions in times of crisis
  • Supporting victims of violence or abuse in the home
  • Helping your family be happier and healthier


Behaviour and parenting skills

We can work with your family when there are difficulties in managing your child's behaviour and to help build closer relationships. You can learn new skills to help you:

  • Deal with anger management or family conflict
  • Find ways to encourage better behaviour
  • Cope with stress
  • Lean new skills to build parenting confidence


Problems at school

We can help improve your child’s attendance and performance at school by:

  • Working with children in school to improve attendance
  • Helping with anger management or conflict by working with your family
  • Helping you get your child to go to school and on time
  • Supporting your child when moving schools
