As part of the ReNew Project, we are looking for businesses and organisations who want to transform empty shops and underused spaces in the Fargate area to create long term solutions. Eligible projects could receive a grant for capital works of up to £50,000. The proposed ReNew projects are required to be on Fargate and can either come from start-up businesses or expanding businesses.
Covid-19 has had a profound effect on businesses in our city centre. Lockdowns and restrictions have limited trade and we have seen a decline in footfall and an increase in vacancy rates. With that in mind, together with rising energy prices and now the cost of living crisis, we need to support our city centre to initiate vibrant and animated new ventures.
Over the next couple of years, Fargate will be transformed using funding secured from the Governments Future High Streets Fund, SYMCA and Sheffield City Council.
The top of Fargate will have a landscaped performance space with a supporting infrastructure for events. There will be further green spaces for smaller activities, outdoor seating for businesses and routes for children’s play and discovery.
To complement this, we are making an open call to businesses and organisations looking to secure funding for their customer facing business or organisation, whether that be retail, food and beverage, leisure, hospitality or arts and culture projects.

Please complete an expression of interest form and email it to citycentre.management@sheffield.gov.uk by midnight on 5 March 2023. Anything received after this date will not be accepted.
Expressions of interest will be evaluated to determine which have the greatest potential to contribute to the future vision for Fargate. These projects will then be asked to complete and submit a full application.
