Appropriation of land for planning purposes

Definition of appropriation: transferring the allocation of land from one purpose to another.

Land at Drakehouse Way

An area of land at Drakehouse Way, Sheffield (as identified in the plan below) has been appropriated to planning purposes to facilitate its development.

The land is currently owned by ourselves.

The appropriation of land to planning purposes was required in order to clarify the way in which we hold the land.

The land is at Drakehouse Way and adjoins the Drakehouse Retail Park.  The proposal is for the development of the site for a mixed use retail and leisure development.

To better facilitate the development and to give increased certainty over the status of the land to all stakeholders involved, we have appropriated the land to planning purposes under the provisions of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and the Local Government Act 1972.

The date of the appropriation was 29th July 2014.
