Brown bin delivered between August - October
Your recycling service is changing

We're making changes to improve your recycling service. These changes will make it easier for you to recycle and save money for the city. You will soon receive a new 240 LITRE brown bin - for most households, this will be the SAME SIZE as your existing black bin.

How will your new recycling service work?

Your new brown bin will be used for glass bottles, jars, cans and plastic bottles and it will be collected every 4 weeks.

Your existing blue bin will be used for paper and card and will be collected every 4 weeks, the same as your brown bin.

Your black bin will still be emptied every two weeks and, for most households, your collection day will stay the same.

When will your new service start?

If you live in the SOUTH of Sheffield, you will receive your new brown bin in September or October, with a leaflet explaining your new collections.

What do I need to do now?

Blue bin and blue box

When your brown bin is delivered, you will receive your new collection calendar which explains when to stop using your blue box and when to start using your new brown bin. Until your final blue bin and blue box collection takes place, please keep using your blue bin and blue box as normal.

If you live in the phase 1 area, your final blue bin and blue box collection will take place during week commencing 27th August.

If you live in the phase 2 area, your final blue bin and blue box collection will take place during week commencing 15th October.

What about your blue box?

When your new service starts, you will no longer need your blue box.

You can either keep your blue box for storage or you can take it to a Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Alternatively, you can arrange for your blue box to be collected from your home.
