Births and Deaths

Reception Desk at the Register Office
Births and deaths, or vital statistics, are an important element of estimating or projecting populations.  The difference between the number of births and the number of deaths during a period is generally described as the natural change in the population.  When there are more births than deaths, then the population is naturally increasing.

Births and deaths are also monitored at neighbourhood level on the Sheffield Health website.

The information available here for viewing or downloading shows births and deaths in Sheffield from 1998 to 2005, plus statistics at ward level for 2004.  There is also a short text briefing.
