Education and Learning

Sheffield Children & Young People’s Service maintains:
  • 137 primary schools offering education for children aged 5 to 11 years old
  • 25 secondary schools providing comprehensive education to 11 to 16 year olds.  Seven of these secondary schools have sixth-forms, offering courses to young people to age 19.  There are also two academies run by the United Learning Trust.
  • a sixth-form college also providing a wide range of post-16 education
  • and 9 nurseries and young children’s centres and 13 Special schools
 
The city has two universities – the University of Sheffield and the Sheffield Hallam University – with over 50,000 students.
