Re-Registering a birth
There are two main reasons why people may wish to re-register a birth:
- If the natural parents are not married to each other the details of the natural father may be added to a new record of the child’s birth if those details were not given at the original registration
- To make a new record of the child’s birth to show the child to be a child of the natural parents subsequent marriage
To apply for re-registration:
If the child was born in Sheffield, please contact Sheffield Register Office for advice.
If the child was not born in Sheffield, either contact the Register Office for the district where the birth took place or telephone, or call into, this office and ask about re- registering by declaration.
