All Births, stillbirths and deaths that occur in Sheffield are registered at this office.
The Register Office undertakes the legal preliminaries to civil marriages and civil partnerships. It also registers and conducts civil marriage ceremonies and civil partnership ceremonies at the Register Office and at approved premises.
At the bottom of the page there is a list of approved premises licensed under The Marriages and Civil Partnership (Approved Premises) Regulations 2005 for civil marriages and formation of civil partnerships other than at the Register Office.
If you wish to certify premises as a place of worship or wish to apply for premises to be approved for marriage and civil partnership ceremonies please contact the Register Office.
This office also holds the records of all births, deaths and marriages that have occurred in Sheffield since 1st July 1837 and civil partnership records since 5th December 2005 and can provide certificates of most of these records on request and for a fee.
The Office undertakes searches for family history enquiries
The Register Office conducts citizenship ceremonies for any new citizen wishing to apply for British Citizenship. It also provides a Nationality Checking Service.
